In collaboration with many community partners, St. David's Community Health Foundation Leadership Dental Program operates mobile dental clinics that travel to schools and agencies in Travis, Williamson, and Hays counties, providing free dental care to children and adults in need.

1. Where do St. David's mobile dental clinics go?

From August through May, we treat kindergarten through elementary school children who attend Title I schools in Travis, Williamson, and Hays counties. Check out our Where Theo Goes page for a current list of schools we visit.

2. What type of treatment is provided?

The vans are well-equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, allowing program dentists to provide high-quality care. Preventative and emergency services include exams, fillings, x-rays, extractions, cleanings, and occasional root canals. The sealant clinic provides preventive sealant treatments within the school setting targeting identified 2nd grade children. back to top

4. Where else can I go to find dental care?

Low-income Travis County residents may qualify for the Medical Assistant Program (MAP). Call 512-972-5300 for information on eligibility and services. Medicaid provides coverage for some dental services. To find out about eligibility and coverage, call 512-438-3280. Without Medicaid or MAP assistance, you may qualify for dental services offered by Manos de Cristo Dental Clinic, 512-477-2319. Dial "211" for other area resources. 211 Texas is a service provided by United Way.  back to top

5. Why do so many children need care?

More than 25 percent of Texans do not have medical or dental insurance. Many families have to choose between paying the bills or paying for a dental visit. That’s a choice that no family should have to make. back to top
