Healthy Living

A primary focus of St. David’s Foundation is reducing risk factors for chronic disease. Consequently, we are strongly committed to reducing the rates of overweight and obesity in children. The Foundation awards grants to organizations that promote healthier eating, physical activity and exercise and improve access to affordable, nutritious food for low-income families in Central Texas.

St. David’s Foundation’s Healthy Living focus area is interested in initiatives that:

  • Promote healthy living practices and obesity prevention among the Central Texas community.
  • Provide community or clinic-based treatment strategies for overweight and obesity.
  • Promote policy and environmental changes to improve access to affordable, nutritious foods and opportunities for physical activity.

The funding cycle for grants varies for each program area.

Healthy Minds, Healthy People and Healthy Smiles proposals are due January 15, and grants are awarded in June. Healthy Aging, Healthy Living and Healthy Futures proposals are due July 15, and grants are awarded in December.

In fairness to applicants who meet submission deadlines, the Foundation does not accept late submissions.
