2006 Community Grants

Recipients are organized according to the Foundation's program areas: Physical Health - Clinic-Based Services , Mental Health, Services for Older Adults, and Services for Other Special Populations. The other funding category indicates sponsorships and funds distributed separately from the normal grant process.

Physical Health - Clinic-Based Services
El Buen Samaritano: Funded general operating expenses for clinic and a pilot project for managing non-emergency patients.

Lone Star Circle of Care: Supported clinic's primary care services for the uninsured and under-insured in Williamson County.

People's Community Clinic: Matched Travis County Healthcare District grant, supported general clinic operations and special projects (Chronic Disease Management, Immunization Program, Practice Management Improvements, Continuing Education and Training).

Round Rock Health Clinic: Supported uninsured patient program.

Samaritan Health Ministries: Supported primary health care services, including acute medical care, medications and dental services. Also provided funds for enhanced clinic management.

U.T. School of Nursing: Children's Wellness Center in Del Valle: Supported the community health nurse and social worker at the Children’s Wellness Center. Also supported staff and student stipends, supplies, and data entry needs for a collaborative immunization program with People’s Community Clinic.

U.T. School of Nursing: Family Health Clinic: Funded clinic operations for a new Family Practice Clinic.

Volunteer Healthcare Clinic: Funded augmentation of clinic's primary care services, thereby enhancing overall clinic operations.

Mental Health
Any Baby Can Child and Family Resource Center: Supported bilingual counseling services for families of children with special health care needs.

Austin Child Guidance Center: Supported psychological evaluations and services.

Austin Recovery: Supported the Multi-Family Group Therapy Project, which provides counseling for clients in chemical dependency treatment and their families.

Capital Area Mental Health Center: Funded counseling services.

Center for Child Protection: Funded capital campaign for new facility.

Communities in Schools - Central Texas: Supported middle school counseling and intervention for at-risk youth.

Family Crisis Center: Supported school-based individual counseling for children and youth exposed to violence.

Hays-Caldwell Women's Center: Funded counseling for victims of family violence and sexual assault.

LifeWorks: Supported capital campaign for new facility.

Lone Star Circle of Care: Funded mental health services that are integrated into the primary care clinic.

People's Community Clinic: Funded mental health services that are integrated into the primary care clinic.

Samaritan Center for Counseling and Pastoral Care: Funded counseling services for low-income individuals.

SIMS Foundation: Supported evaluation and treatment services for musicians.

Waterloo Counseling Center: Supported therapeutic services for low-income children and adults.

Services for Older Adults

Austin Groups for the Elderly: Supported Elderhaven Adult Day Care Center and Caregiver Resource Center.

Faith in Action Caregivers (formerly Partners in Caregiving): Supported continued delivery of services to older adults that enhanced their access to primary care, health promotion, and preventive health care.

Family Eldercare: Subsidized the delivery of a continuum of care services for low and moderate-income older adults in four programs: 1) Consultation and Service Coordination; 2) In-Home Care and Respite; 3) Guardianship and Bill Payer Services; 4) Lyons Gardens Senior Community. Also supported Family Eldercare's capital campaign for a new facility.

Meals on Wheels and More
: Supported coordination of volunteers and delivery of meals and services to people in need.

New Connections: Supported early intervention program for patients with Alzheimer's Disease.

Round Rock Area Serving Center: Supported the increase of food assistance and financial assistance for rent, utilities, and prescriptions for the elderly.

AISD Vision and Hearing Program: Funded vision screening machines and administrative support.

Breast Cancer Resource Center: Supported the Peer to Peer Core Program.

Children's Hearing Aid Texas: Funded hearing aids and related services.

TANDEM Project: Supported teen prenatal and parenting program.

Other Funding

Indigent Care Collaboration: Funded core support.

LBJ School of Public Affairs, University of Texas: Supported Dr. David Warner’s Policy Research Project, a two-semester course offered by the Lyndon B. Johnson School of Public Affairs. The project examined community health initiatives that can reduce the amount of uncompensated care in hospitals and also enhance and improve health status and health outcomes in the community. Hosted conference entitled "Care that Pays for Itself?" in March 2006.
