Health's Angels

St. David’s Foundation Community Fund created Health’s Angels to provide charitable support to nonprofit organizations serving older adults and their families. This focus was chosen in response to rising needs, as the population aged 65 and older is growing rapidly without a corresponding increase in services, and for its resonance with individual families who face the challenges of aging. By marshaling people and resources, Health’s Angels provides help for thousands of older adults in our community.

Participatory Philanthropy

Once a year, Health's Angels members participate in awarding an $80,000 grant to a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations serving older adults in Travis, Williamson, Bastrop, Caldwell, and Hays County, or a combination of those counties.

To be considered for the award the applying nonprofit organization must engage volunteers to help older adults maintain independence, improve or increase access to health-related services, health care, or support services among older adults, or support aging in the community. The highest priority will be given to evidence-based initiatives and projects that encourage multi-agency collaboration. Funds can be used for start-up activities or new programs or organizations, organizing and coalition building, conferences focusing on innovative ideas or programs, capacity building, operating expenses, program support, clinical services, technical assistance, and direct project expenses.

Membership

Members are united in compassion, community engagement and collaboration. We work together to build awareness of issues facing older adults and serve as public service ambassadors. Membership also includes group volunteer activities with partner organizations, educational presentations and fun networking events.
