Toast of the Town 2012St. David’s Foundation Community Fund Toast of the Town parties are legendary for featuring special guests and entertainment in intimate settings. 2011’s party line-up included Ray Benson, frontman of the Grammy award-winning Asleep at the Wheel, University of Texas Coaches Rick Barnes and Augie Garrido, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, Master's champion Ben Crenshaw, author S. C. Gwynne, Kelly Willis and many more. Proceeds from Toast of the Town benefit St. David’s Neal Kocurek Scholarship Fund for Central Texas students studying health care professions. Toast of the Town parties change each year and can range from an intimate dinner for 10 in Larry Peel’s private wine cellar to a boot-scootin’ barbecue featuring the swing sounds of Ray Benson. Some events are interactive, such as a private tour of one of the most fascinating art collections in the country, dancing on the 55th floor of the Austonian Club with tunes from The Lucky Strikes, or an afternoon for the whole family with interactive demonstrations of awesome chemistry experiments (including everyone's favorite - liquid nitrogen ice cream) by the University of Texas' "Mad Scientist" Dr. David Laude. Many of these special parties are held in private homes and venues not generally accessible and are only open to a limited number of guests. Guests select which event they want to attend from the list of 18 to 20 parties each year. Tickets cost $250; sponsorships begin at $750
